The entire Moor Spa product line is based on the remarkable healing properties of the Austrian Deep Moor. The effects of ‘Heilmoor’ or healing moor have been known for many centuries. Probably the earliest record of its use comes from Galen and Plinius, the great medical minds from the Egyptian era, who described the use of moor deposits by the river Nile as a major healing medium.

Nearly 3,000 years ago, the Celts and Romans are known to have used moors in Austria to treat their wounded. In the 16th Century, Paracelsus, the famous alchemist, described moor as the ‘Quinta Essentia Vitae’ - he believed it was the ultimate remedy or elixir of life.

More recently, a wealth of clinical studies has been conducted on moor therapy including several by the German and Austrian Governments. As a result, hundreds of European physicians now use and recommend moor treatments.

Moor Spa harnesses the wonderful therapeutic properties of the moor in an extensive line of skin-care, body-care, and wellness products.

Some of the products include nothing but the pure moor which is simply harvested directly from the Vorarlberg Tiefenmoor, then carefully filtered and refined.

The other products are manufactured using moor water as their base. This water is extracted from the moor by a process of filtration which takes several weeks to complete. It contains most of the moor’s water-soluble nutrients and is therefore extremely nourishing to the skin and body.

A range of high grade plant-based ingredients including natural emulsifiers, humectants, nourishing oils, herbal extracts, essential oils, and other ‘actives’ are blended in at our Vancouver facility, to create a range of truly exquisite products that work synergistically with the pure moor products.
